We make lists to provide essential household items make new arrivals’ new homes safe, functional and comfortable for the family, with autonomy to choose items based on taste, color preference, comfort and individual family needs. Over $1,000,000 in housewarming gifts have been gifted from family to family through the Miry’s List family lists since 2017.

Meet the Hamkar Family! Mom and Dad have a 13 year old daughter and 3 sons, ages 18, 15, and 5. They recently arrived from Afghanistan and resettled in Modesto, California. Mom and Dad have both enrolled in English classes together, and are happy to be settling into their new neighborhood.

She was an English teacher in her hometown and hopes to continue her career path here in the US. Welcome to Alexandria, Oyani family! Mom and Dad have one baby boy, who will turn two this summer. They recently arrived from Afghanistan, and have resettled in Virginia. Mom is a talented make-up artist, and loves to go swimming with her little boy. They are enjoying their new neighborhood and have many hopes and dreams for their future here.
Meet the Aminpoor Family! Mom, Dad, and their two young adult children, who recently arrived from Afghanistan. They resettled in the Sacramento area, and are settling into their new neighborhood. Mom was an advocate for women's rights in Afghanistan, and also enjoys writing novels. Dad was a project manager and is enrolled in english classes in his community. The whole family loves going on picnics together, and enjoying the nature in their new home.
Welcome to Virginia, Zaheri family! Mom and Dad are a young couple, who just had their very first baby girl. Dad was an interpreter with the US embassy in Afghanistan, and hopes to continue his education here to become a counselor-at-law. One of his favorite qualities about himself is that he is a driven individual, who isn't afraid to face a challenge. He said if he had one day to do anything in the world, he would use it to end racism and build peace.
Meet the Alawad family! Mom and Dad have 4 kids, ages 12, 10, 7, and 3, and are a Syrian family who recently arrived from Jordan. They resettled in El Cajon, California, and are enjoying the sunshine in their new home. Both Mom and Dad are taking English classes, and Dad is hoping to find a local construction job in his new community. They are also expecting a baby girl this June!
Welcome to the Bay Area, Muslim Family! Mom and Dad have a house full of love, with 3 girls, ages 18, 16, and 13, and 3 boys, ages 16, 14, and 4! They recently arrived from Afghanistan and resettled in the East Bay. Dad previously worked for USAID and has a passion for helping others. He said that his hope for the future was that there would be no discrimination, only the sharing of love.

They recently arrived from Afghanistan and resettled in Sacramento, California. They are thankful that both Mom and Dad already have English proficiency and will now be able to focus on finding new careeers here in the US as they raise their little one.
Welcome to Sacrameto, Qaderi family! Mom and Dad have two adorable little boys and are expecting their 3rd bundle of joy in May of 2024. Dad said that his talent is being a funny person, and he strives to always live his life happily. He said if he could have any superpower, it would be to help others. Currently he is working as a rideshare driver, but he hopes to learn enough English to become a businessman here in the US.
Meet the Merherzad family: a Mom, Dad, and three sons, ages 10, 8 and 3. They recently arrived in the United States from Afghanistan and resettled in Virginia. Mom and Dad are currently hoping to take an advanced English class, as their kids settle into their new schools here. Their 10 year old said something people may not know about him is that he is brave, and that he hopes to become a professional soccer player one day. Their 8 year old said that while his current joy is in gymastics, he actually wants to study to be an engineer, in order to help both his family and society when he grows up.
Welcome to Virginia, Zarabi family! Mom, Dad, and their 4 kids recently arrived from Afghanistan and resettled in the Woodbridge area. Their kids are ages 5-13 years old and they have already begun school in their new neighborhood. Their youngest, Amena, says she loves her new school and she wants to be a doctor someday! Mom is also joining in on the learning, and has enrolled in English classes in her new town.
Meet the Safi family! Mom and Dad have 3 girls ages 3, 8, and 10, and one little boy who is 6. They recently arrived from Afghanistan and resettled in Sacramento, California. Mohammad, their 6 year old son, says his hero is Spiderman, and if he had a superpower, it would be to help as many people as possible. When we asked him to tell us something that we don't know about him, he answered "I am a real hero."

Welcome, Habibi family! Mom and Dad recently arrived from Afghanistan with their 3 kids, ages 3, 6, and 9. Dad worked at the US Embassy and is currently taking English classes alongside his wife in their new community. Their 10 year old, Subhanullah, says his biggest wish this winter is to recieve a comfortable bed to sleep in. After that, he hopes to one day own his own laptop because he wants to study science and work hard to help his family in the future.
