Introduction

Miry's List helps families who are arriving in the United States as refugees through the Federal Refugee Admissions Program. Most of our families have come fleeing violence in countries including Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan. They are mostly parents with young children and more than half of our families have served the U.S. military in their home countries. Our clients are faced with impossible choices everyday, and we know from our deep experience the support they need to be set up for success and to thrive in the United States.

Our Response
We created the Bed Fund for Refugees to provide beds, bedding, pillows, mattress and cribs for new arrival refugee families starting over in the United States so these families can rest their bodies and minds as they face the incredible challenge of starting over in a new country. It's simple and it works: Our generous community of donors contribute to the fund through our campaign website, and Miry's List uses the funds to purchase bedding items for our families through their wishlists. Each item comes with a gift message letting the family who receive it know that it's a gift from their new American neighbors who want to welcome them.

The Need
Resettling refugee families have sacrificed so much to be here. They leave behind family and friends, as well as virtually everything they own. They often arrive physically and mentally exhausted from their long and difficult journey. One of the most important things our families need is a bed. Over 75% of our families request beds, bedding, mattresses, and cribs on their wishlist.

The Impact
Miry's List's Bed Fund for Refugees raised almost $62,000. We have already spent $50,309.83 providing beds, mattresses, pillows, blankets, and cribs for 78 new arrival families, directly impacting 421 individual people. Click on the infographic below to learn more.
