LA Jews for Refugees Assembly

  • Temple Beth Am 1039 South La Cienega Boulevard Los Angeles, CA, 90035 United States (map)

After a year of attacks on the U.S. refugee program, the number of refugees entering the country has dramatically slowed. At a time of unprecedented global need, the U.S. is failing to meet a basic obligation to victims of war, terror, torture, and persecution. In response, a coalition of Jewish congregations and organizations have come together with HIAS to hold a community-wide Jews For Refugees Assembly on Thursday, March 22nd at Temple Beth Am in Los Angeles.

The Assembly will begin at 6:00pm with an organizational fair featuring local and national refugee assistance organizations to connect participants to volunteer opportunities, advocacy initiatives, and other ways to take action. We are proud to be offering delicious Syrian fare from New Arrival Supper Club, featuring new arrival chefs from resettled families in the Miry's List program.

Bring your 10th-12th graders who will have a chance to learn from Camp Gilboa about voter registration and how to engage their peers in voter turnout. At 7:00pm, elected officials, refugee speakers, policy experts, and community leaders will address the assembly to share policy updates, stories, ways to get involved, and more. Together, we will raise a powerful, moral voice to ensure that refugees can find safety and welcome in the United States.
