Meet the Ahmady family! The Ahmady family recently arrived from Afghanistan and resettled in Tustin, California. They are a Mom, Dad, and three kids, ages 3, 8, and 11. Dad was a librarian in Afghanistan, and he has helped to foster a love of reading in all of his kids. The kids are excited to start school in their new community, and looking forward to making new friends. This family is especially in need of beds and bedding as they settle into their new home as well.
Safdari Family
Welcome to Virginia, Safdari family! Mom, Dad, and their two teens recently arrived from Afghanistan, where Dad was a software developer. Now they are setting up thier new appartment here in the US and are grateful for the support of their new community. Some of their biggest needs at the moment are warm blankets for winter and bicycles for the kids to travel to school with.
Zadran Family
Introducing the Zadran family! With Mom as a medical doctor and Dad as a University lecturer, the Zadrans have big dreams for their 3 little ones. When we interviewed their middle son, he said that one of his favorite activities is "exploring numbers, like figuring out big calculations and imagining the vast size of the universe." Recently arriving from Afghanistan, they've begun to settle into their new home in California, and are looking forward to making their home warm and cozy. They are all in need of beds and bedding, and also in need of a car seat and booster seat for their two youngest kids.
Ghafoori Family
Welcome to California, Ghafoori family! The Ghafooris are a big family of 8, with 6 kids ranging from toddler to young adult. They recently arrived from Afghanistan, where Dad had worked as an acquisition specialist. He says his biggest hope for the future is for his children to get a good education here in the United States.
Nizami Family
Meet the Nizami family! Mom and Dad have four children, ages 4 to 12, and are expecting a new baby boy this year too! The Nizamis recently arrived from Afghanistan and resettled in Sacramento, where the older kids have started school in their new neighborhood. Their family is in need of beds and bedding as they settle into their new home, as well as a booster seat for their youngest.
Ali Family
Introducing the Ali family! Recently arriving from Afghanistan, Mom, Dad, and their 5 teens have begun settling into their new home in California. Dad was a teacher in Afghanistan and is especially proud that his kids will get to finish their education here. As they are a large family of 7, they are especially in need of a dining room table, a sofa, and kitchen items to make it a cozy and comfortable space for everyone.
Sadiqi Family
Meet the Sadiqi family! Mom and Dad have 5 children, ranging from toddlers to teens, and have recently resettled from Afghanistan to California. Mom loved to sew for her family, and is really looking forward to having a sewing machine in her new home so that she can bring her beloved craft with her here in the US. The family is also in need of beds and bedding to keep warm on the cool winter nights.
Zarin Family
Meet the Zarin family! Mom and Dad recently arrived from Afghanistan and resettled in Virginia. They have three children, ages 4, 8, and 11, who recently began school in their new community as well. The kids love to play soccer together, and to make friends by going to the park near them. Their oldest dreams of being an engineer someday, and is happy to be studying at his new school.
Shakibani Family
Introducing the Shikbani family! Mom and Dad recently arrived from Afghanistan with their three sons, ages 12, 18, and 19. They've resettled in Northern California, where their son Mazullah has started school in his new neighborhood. Mazullah and his family had the chance to visit Los Angeles during their resettlement as well, which he loved! A kid with a big heart, Mazullah sent the Miry's List team a note of encouragement during the recent LA fires, and a sweet photo of their trip too.
Khadem Family
Introducing Neyaesh Khadem and the Khadem family! The Khadems recently arrived from Afghanistan and resettled in the San Francisco Bay Area. Mom and Dad have three children, ages 2, 7, and 11, and Neyaesh is the oldest. She is very excited to attend school here in the the US, as she hopes to become a doctor someday, and especially one that helps new mothers. Her favorite things about herself are her kindness and strength.
Amiri family
Introducing the Amiri family! The Amiris are Mom, Dad, and 4 kids ranging from preschooler to preteen.they recently arrived to the US from Afghanistan, and resettled in California. Their oldest son shared that loves to paint and hopes to become a famous artist one day. He loves living in California because he can go to the beach with his family, which is one of his favorite things to do. They are in need of beds for their new home, and the kids have especially asked for a bunk bed to share with their siblings.
Noori Family
Welcome to California, Noori family! The Noori family is a big, happy family of 7, with 5 kids ranging in ages from middle school to young adult. Dad was a Shopkeeper in Afghanistan, where the family recently resettled from. Mom stayed home with the kids. Mom & Dad are now taking an English class together in their new community. As they settle into their new home, the Noori family is in need of beds and bedding to make their space comfortable and welcoming. Any support you can offer would greatly help them feel at home in California.
Sherzai Family
Meet the Sherzai family! This vibrant household includes Mom, Dad, and their five children, ranging from elementary school to high school aged. The Sherzai family recently arrived from Afghanistan and is now settling in California.Mom and Dad are actively taking English classes to adapt to their new environment, and Mom hopes to acquire a sewing machine to continue practicing her traditional craft. As they build their new life, the family is in urgent need of beds and bedding to make their home more comfortable.
