Let My People Come: A Passover Experience at Skirball Cultural Center

Come to the Skirball for a Passover-themed evening in partnership with the nonprofit Miry’s List and explore the themes of freedom and redemption through food and storytelling.

Rabbi Sarah Bassin (Temple Emanuel of Beverly Hills) will begin by relating the Jewish value of welcoming the stranger to both the Passover story and the experience of refugees today. Then, enjoy wine and an elaborate Syrian dinner infused with the symbols of Passover and prepared by a family who recently resettled in LA. Finally, listen as Evan Kleiman (KCRW’s Good Food) moderates a discussion with the chefs about their arrival stories.

  • Our very own Rabia Ahmadi, new Angeleno from Afghanistan, working mama and Director of Family Services for Miry's List. America’s welcome wagon for hundreds of new Americans!

  • Nina Tarnay - Nina is an immigrant from Vietnam, wife, mother of three, PTA volunteer, active member of her community, news junkie, and yes, a full-fledged American. She is also an attorney and writer.
